The Historic Chapel is found in the Center of the Spring Hill College Campus and is open 24 hours - seven days a week through out the year. It was erected in1910 and remodeled in 2003. In 2003 a new tracker pipe organ by the German company Leo Heisler Organs was installed. The site serves as the major facility on campus for worship and major choral concerts throughout the year.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Leslie Thompson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University. His first experience with art was in the second grade when his pastel drawing of a Gloucester Schooner was chosen for international exchange in the Jaycee Art Auction, which raised funds for the Mobile Museum of Art. The drawing eventually was exhibited in Paris, France. As a student at Auburn, Thompson travelled to Spain and attended the Universidad de Madrid.
